The Amelio Lab is a cancer cell biology lab focused on discovering the molecular mechanisms that drive tumor development and progression. We innovate and apply biologic light-based technologies to understand how spatial and temporal control of cell signaling and gene expression influence cell fate, and how perturbations lead to cancer. We are part of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. We are affiliated with the Cancer Biology and Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy majors of the Moffitt Cancer Biology PhD Graduate Program.

To harness the potential of biologic light to understand the spatiotemporal dynamics of cell signaling and gene regulation in health and disease, and provide a supportive environment for training the next generation of competent and compassionate scientists.

To innovate unconventional cancer therapies based on an enlightened understanding of tumor biology.

To passionately serve the public health needs by unveiling complex mechanisms driving disease. In this pursuit, we pledge:

  • Honesty
  • Perseverance
  • Curiosity
  • Effective Communication
  • Self-Discipline
  • Compassion and Respect
  • Collaboration
  • Stewardship of Resources
